Thought this was pretty interesting. And a little bit easier to understand. : )

Day Seventy Eight: SuperMoon

Tonight the moon is the closest it's been to Earth since March of 1993. It's known as a Perigee moon or super moon and is 14% bigger than the normal size. It is also 30% brighter. And only happens every 20 years or so according to NASA.
When I first saw the moon coming over the horizon, it was huge .. but by the time I grabbed my camera and set my settings, it was much smaller. Scientist say this is because of an illusion made by seeing the moon beaming through trees, buildings and other foreground objects. But I know what I saw and it was way larger!
If anyone is curious, these were my camera settings:
. Aperature at 11
. ISO 100-200
. Shutter 1/125
. 200mm
. No flash, no UV filter { although I don't currently have one on anyway }
. Didn't use tripod because I had a fast shutter speed, but it would have probably looked better if I had. I was just being lazy.

Day Seventy Two: New shoes
{ March 13th }

Ryen needed some new shoes and I found these adorable penguin converse on sale at Kohls. They are so cute on her and super easy to put on her { which is a huge deal when it comes to kid shoes! }
Don't judge me on the blurry pictures. You try to take a photo of shoes on a 2 year old that's in a grumpy, it's my nap time, mood!
Day Seventy One: The Penny Tree
Day Seventy: Backyard Bird
{ March 11th }
I don't know what to call this .. so I'm going with backyard bird. He was just sitting on my fence looking all cute with his blue head and brown and white body. With all the nature pictures I've taken lately, I think it's time to invest in a good bird book. Or I could just google it. But having a bird book sounds much more exciting .. and distinguished.Day Sixty Nine: Paws
Day Sixty Eight: The Storm
{ March 9th }

It started off a beautiful day, but eventually turned into one of the worse storms we've had here this year. These were the first signs of a storm rolling in and only a few hours later the sky was dark as night. But after about an inch of rain and lots of wind, it moved along without any damage.

Day Sixty Seven: Handprints
{ March 8th }

I saw this in a Pottery Barn Kids catalog the other day. I'm only on the mailing list because I use them as my "idea books" for things I want to eventually do in the girls rooms. Some times I cave and buy stuff, but sometimes I try and make it myself for cheaper. { and then spend the money I saved on frappuccinos } This is one of my 'I can do it myself' projects.
I wanted to use bright colors because I'm putting them in the hallway that leads to the girls room and it's very bland and white. I painted some 8x10 fabric canvases { on sale for $3 at Michaels } and used the same acrylic paint to do each girls handprint. I love the final product. I can look back and see the difference in each hand as they get older and bigger.
I am very happy with my $15 project. I think I might do one every year until they move out. : )
Day Sixty Six: Hyacinths
{ March 7th }

Today is my grandma's birthday! She's turning 45. Don't do the math, it will never add up.
Caidyn and I agreed that some flowers for her garden would be a good gift. So we set out for some flowers for her, but ended up getting these for ourselves. I figured it would brighten up the house a little bit. And it did. { We did buy her some too. Just in case it sounded like we completely forgot about why we went in the first place. }
The first two pictures were using my semi-new 50mm Nikon lens. I say semi-new because I bought it a few months ago, but have been too busy to really test it out until now. I love it by the way! It's taking a little getting use to .. but it's my first prime lens.

Here are the flowers in our entry way. I love seeing them every time I come in the front door. It's not the most amazing setup, but we're still moving things around and getting the house unpacked. At least this one little area makes me happy.
Happy Birthday to my wonderful grandma! I love you! She my partner in { crafting } crime!
Day Sixty Five: Sticker Baby
Day Sixty Four: Bubble Girls
Day Sixty Three: Restaurant flowers
{ March 4th }

We went out today with the girls { all but Caidyn, she was in school } for a little family lunch and errands. I saw this tree outside the restaurant and I have no idea what it is. They are all over the place up here and they're beautiful. I've seen these pinkish purple ones and some white ones too. They are happy little reminders that spring is here .. and I love spring!
Day Sixty One: Sunsets
{ March 2nd }
Part 4, the final chapter, of my Alabama mini series. Sunsets.
This is more like Alabama/Florida sunsets, but they were all taken on our trip home from Alabama. I'm still trying to master dusky night picture taking, but I loved almost all of them I took. I'm a sucker for sunset pictures.

I loved this little back road we took to I-10. The long tree lined highway and the cute little curves. Reminded me a lot of living in North Carolina.
I'm not even sure when I took this, but the colors of the sky and the clouds are gorgeous. Looking at this picture, I can almost see the clouds rolling along and the slight cool breeze on my face. I love when a picture makes you feel like you could actually be there.
I'm loving the tree in front of the sun in the first one .. and the sun flare along the tree line in the second.
I wasn't going to add this one, but my hubby liked it. He said it reminded him of those old 70's photos of the beach. I was just trying to get a picture of the I-10 sign. But I have to admit, it does look pretty cool.
As I was just about to put my camera down and enjoy the ride back home, I saw this in my side mirror. The sun setting, the water tower .. I like everything this one has to offer.
Just in case anyone figured out that I was only in Alabama for 2 days, but used the last few days to post pictures of the trip .. well, I figured these were way more interesting than what I actually did. I know the point of this blog is to take and post a picture from that day, but getting a new water heater, going to Lowes and more pictures of my girls seemed less boring compared to these. I'll be going back to my normal life now. But I'm glad I got to share with you the fun we had on our little weekend getaway.
